hulk hogan cameroSuper cool green Camero and signed by the Hulk himself! An organization that helps the needy in the area is getting some celebrity help with its latest fundraiser.

Retired wrestler Hulk Hogan and radio personality Bubba the Love Sponge are promoting a drawing for a 2011 Special Edition Chevrolet Camaro 1SS. The proceeds go to Unity in the Community.

This is the second year that Hogan and Bubba, along with Stingray Chevrolet, have teamed to give a helping hand to Unity. The car, autographed by Hogan, is worth $44,000.

Stingray Manager Steve Hurley and Bubba’s BTLS Foundation have purchased the car. Tickets for the drawing are $5.

Unity founder Joyce Jordan said last year’s drawing generated more than $70,000.

Among other works, Unity in May will present 30 $1,000 scholarships to needy high school students who are graduating. Other charities that have received money from Unity have included the United Food Bank of Plant City and Meals on Wheels.

The winning ticket will be drawn at 5 p.m. March 13 at the Florida Strawberry Festival. The winner need not be present to win.

Tickets will be available at Stingray Chevrolet until 6 p.m. March 11 and at the festival from Thursday until 4:30 p.m. March 13.

Tickets also will be available online at stingraychevrolet.com until 6 p.m. March 11; limit 20 tickets per person.  Great idea and I love the HULK!

Sex Does not Sell for Charities

How embarrassing, I wonder if this was an inside job done purposely?  NFL fans never know what to expect from Chad Ochocinco but even they were probably surprised when dialing a number from a charity cereal box featuring the attention-seeking Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver and getting a phone-sex line.

A typo on the cereal box sent callers to a seductive-sounding woman instead of Feed The Children, a charity that benefits from Ochocinco’s limited edition toasted oats cereal, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported on its website.

“You must be 18 or older to get into this party, baby,” the woman said before asking for a credit card number.

Callers should have dialed an 888 number instead of an 800 number, the newspaper said.

“I really do apologize,” Ochocinco told the Enquirer on Thursday. “Some people got a laugh out of it, others are upset.”

A spokesman for Feed The Children said the charity appeared to be at fault.

Ochocinco’s agent stressed the flamboyant receiver was in no way involved in the mistake.

A Cincinnati grocery chain began pulling the cereal boxes from its shelves on Thursday.

The cereal, which sells for $5 a box, can be found on the website www.plbsports.com.

“All boxes will be shipped with a corrected 800# on them,” a statement on the website said in capital letters.  No matter what this a great charity and we support them!

Apple Donates a Bunch of Ones and Zeros

ones and zerosApple has donated the source code for MacPaint to the Computer History Museum. MacPaint was part of the original Macintosh launch back in 1984 and was featured prominently in its advertising. It was featured in an advertising brochure that was circulated with Time and Newsweek in December, 1983. The ad introduced the concept of using a mouse to click on the screen, and MacPaint was featured as an example application utilize the windows/mouse interface.

Those who spend a lot of time using Adobe Photoshop constantly use such features as the lasso tool for selecting non-rectangular shapes, and the paint bucket for filling closed areas with a pattern, and later, color. Both first appeared in MacPaint. The program was unique at the time for its ability to create graphics that could then be used in other applications.

Stars Walking for Charity

What is better than seeing beautiful stars walking the red carpet?  Seeing them walking for charity of course!  Halle Berry, Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel slipped into their charity shoes during the weekend to take part in the annual Revlon Run/Walk For Women in New York.

The 13th annual Entertainment Industry Foundation event started in Times Square and finished in Central Park, attracting thousands of people to raise funds for women’s cancer research, counseling and outreach programs in NYC.

“I can’t tell you how happy I am to be here,” said Berry. “I am walking today on behalf of a friend of mine, Stephanie, who is fighting the fight every day. I feel you, I’m with you, and it’s important that we’re all here today.” Halle is a veteran of the Revlon Run/Walk For Women events, taking part in many of them.

Saturday’s event also featured Dr. Oz and Jesse L. Martin, as well as a performance by Trey Songz. Next week, it’s Los Angeles’ turn to host the event, with celebrities such as Julie Bowen (ABC’s Modern Family), James Denton (ABC’s Desperate Housewives), Marg Helgenberger (CBS’ CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and Carrie Ann Inaba (ABC’s Dancing with the Stars) set to take part. The 17th annual LA event takes place on May 8, and more info can be found here.

Proceeds from past EIF Revlon Run/Walks have funded cutting-edge research, contributing to the development of the breakthrough gene treatment Herceptin as well as other targeted therapies, bringing new and innovative treatment approaches to women’s cancers worldwide. Monies raised have also helped numerous organizations in providing education, advocacy and outreach services to those affected by women’s cancers.

GM and Chrysler ordered out of NASCAR (2009)

Car and Driver Magazine revealed that the White House had ordered that “GM and Chrysler must cease participation in NASCAR at the end of the 2009 season if they hope to receive any additional financial aid from the government.” The White House was said to have released the following statement: “In order to receive this money, corporations must demonstrate they will spend it wisely. Racing has been said to improve on-road technology, but frankly, NASCAR almost flaunts its standing among the lowest-tech forms of motorsport. NASCAR is not proven to drive advancements that transfer from the racetrack to the road, and this nation’s way forward does not hinge on decades-old technology. We need new, and we need innovation.” NASCAR was said to be exploring other options, such as inviting Korea’s Hyundai corporation to compete in GM and Chrysler’s place.

I guess I give this one a little edge because it is believable, but it is pretty stupid and in 2009 I was sick and tired of hearing about these two companies – 6/10

Invisible Car (2009)

The Daily Express claimed that a British inventor had built an invisible car, designed to fool speed cameras: ““It is beautiful in its simplicity… The plastic film appears completely normal to the human eye. But the flash of the camera reacts with molecules in the film and light is reflected outwards to make the car appear invisible in pictures.” The inventor admitted that the one problem was also covering the wheels and developing an invisible suit to wear.

I like this one because I think the technology probably exists in some military lab, plus who would not want to be invisible – 8/10

Kim Kardashian Punched in the Face for a Good Cause

Posted by admin on November 9th, 2009 in Category Charities, Fun and Humor (no responses)

Kim Kardashian would have never imagined getting beaten up for charity (and either would I) but this is what exactly happened when the reality TV star entered the ring for a little skirmish.

Kardashian, who got voluntarily into fisticuffs with a fan at the Commerce Casino in California, was punched in the face and had a black eye when the fight ended.

She had tweeted about her fears to fans before the fight, when she had confessed being “sooo scared”.

Her stepdad Bruce Jenner and brother Robert also received punches in the name of charity and shared the losers’ bench with Kardashian.

Robert even needed medical attention for a concussion.  I think celebs these days are absolutely crazy.
